REVIEW MILESTONE CALCULATOR
Steam only shows your rating after 10 reviews, "Very Positive" needs 50, and "Overwhelmingly Positive" needs 500. Enter your wishlists and sales to see how many reviews you can expect - and how far you are from each milestone.
0 if you haven't launched yet.
Current wishlist count on Steam.
Wishlists that buy within a year. Typical: 20-35%.
Typical: 30-60. Story/horror ~30, sims ~40, casual ~60+.
At 10 reviews Steam shows your aggregate score and label on the store page - before that, browsing users see no rating at all.
The "Very Positive" / "Mostly Positive" labels need at least 50 reviews - below that the best you can show is a plain "Positive".
"Overwhelmingly Positive" needs 500+ reviews at a 95%+ rating - the strongest social proof Steam can print.
Note: milestone labels also require the rating percentage (80%+ for Very Positive, 95%+ for Overwhelmingly Positive) - this tool projects the review count side of the equation.
How the math works
Sales per review: Community benchmarks put one Steam review per 30-60 copies sold for most indie games. Story-heavy and horror titles review more often (~1 per 30), simulators sit around 1 per 40, broad casual games can run 1 per 60+. Free weekend keys and bundle copies review at lower rates - keep the ratio conservative.
Why 10 / 50 / 500: these are Steam's own label thresholds. Below 10 reviews the store page shows no score at all; "Very Positive" requires 50+ reviews at an 80%+ rating; "Overwhelmingly Positive" requires 500+ at 95%+. Each label change is a visible conversion bump.
Projection: projected copies = copies sold so far + wishlists × year-1 conversion. Wishlist conversion typically lands between 20% and 35% across the first year as launch, festivals and discounts compound.
How to raise the review rate: a polite in-game prompt after a good session, launch-week creator coverage (viewers who buy review more), and answering early reviews all measurably lift the ratio. Never incentivize reviews - Valve bans it.
These are estimates from public community data, not guarantees. Use them for planning.
